Things To Do in Iowa This Weekend: January 8-10, 2010

Assuming the weather clears up, that is.

My pick for this weekend: Ice Fest at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque. If you can't beat the weather you may as well enjoy it! Snow carving and ice sculpting, snow sliding, ice bowling and more.

If indoor activities are more your style I have a trio for you:

The North Iowa Fair Flea Market in Mason City has something for everyone. Fri. 4pm-8pm; Sat. 9am-6pm; Sun. 9am-4pm. Admission: Free.

Or head to Cherokee for the Jazz and Blues Festival. Concerts, a jam session and a blues clinic.

For hands on creativity head to Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and learn foil printing. The session is Saturday from 10:30am til noon.
